Chesapeake Bay Candle: Concept to On Shelf
TL;DR: A candle collection designed to help consumers slow down, reset, and spark small daily rituals. Inspired by the rise of intentional living, this project blended calm-forward visuals with minimalist design to create a product experience rooted in mindfulness and modern wellness.
In response to shifting consumer priorities post-2020, our team was tasked with designing a new candle collection that aligned with the growing desire for calm, clarity, and intention in daily life. The Intentions Collection for Chesapeake Bay Candle was inspired by the rising popularity of mindful practices like manifesting, journaling, and slow living; trends that reflected a broader cultural shift toward presence over productivity.
Working from a trend brief that emphasized the rejection of hustle culture and the embrace of rest and re-connection, we explored how a physical product like a candle could support daily rituals, without adding to the noise. We focused on calm-inducing color palettes, minimalist label treatments, and subtle textures that felt grounding and modern. Each fragrance in the collection was tied to an intentional state like “Calm,” “Focus,” or “Restore” and designed to serve as a visual and sensory reminder to pause.
Our goal wasn’t just to design something pretty, but to design something purposeful. Something that didn’t demand attention, but gently invited it.
